Family Photographer
Family portraits that feel exactly like your family - warm, real, and full of life.
Family Photography Melbourne
The way they are right now is worth remembering.
The family photographs we treasure most are rarely the perfect ones. They’re the images that remind us how life felt. The laughter, affection, personalities and little moments that make your family uniquely yours.
The sound of their laugh. The way the little one runs across the garden. The look your partner gives you when the kids aren’t watching. These are the things that make up a life together – and they change quietly, gradually, without much warning.
A family portrait session with Luke Munro Photography isn’t about standing still and smiling for the camera. It’s about spending time together in a beautiful place and letting someone with a good eye and a quiet presence capture what’s already there.
The images that come out of that afternoon will sit on your walls, travel down through your family, and remind you – years from now – of exactly how this felt.
Some moments only happen once. We make sure they last forever.
What to Expect
A session that feels nothing like a session.
Before Your Session
Every session begins with a conversation. We want to understand your family - what you love doing together, where you feel most comfortable, what ages the kids are and how they tend to behave in front of a camera. The more we know, the better we can plan a session that feels natural from the very first moment.
On The Day
There's no formal posing and no counting to three. We move through the session gently, following your family's lead and looking for the moments that happen in between - the in-jokes, the piggybacks, the quiet connection between a parent and child. Kids who are nervous at the start are usually the ones running towards us by the end.
After your session
Your finished images are delivered as a beautifully edited gallery - ready to print, frame, and put on the walls of your home. We also offer a range of printed products for families who want something tangible to hold, pass around, and keep. These aren't digital files sitting forgotten in a folder. They're the beginning of something that lasts.
Real families. Real moments.
Every family is different. Every session tells a different story. Here’s a selection of recent family sessions from the Yarra Valley, the Dandenong Ranges, and across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
Our Family Collections
Every family chooses the collection that feels right for them to begin with. Your images are delivered through a secure private online gallery, beautifully edited and ready to share with the people who matter most. What tends to happen next is the best part. Families see their photos, fall in love with them, and want to bring them to life beyond the screen. Upgrading your collection is simple, and we are always here to help you find the best way to display and keep your images.

What Our Clients Say
The moments speak for themselves
Where We Shoot
Victoria has some of the most beautiful backdrops for family photography - and we know them well.
Yarra Valley
Whether you picture a relaxed session among the vines or a sun-drenched afternoon in a meadow, this is a setting that does much of the work for you.
Dandenong Ranges
Just 15 minutes from Melbourne's eastern suburbs and a world away from the city.
Melbourne Eastern Suburbs
We know the spots that catch the light well - and we're happy to suggest options based on your family and what you have in mind.
Someone who loves what families actually look like.
Luke Munro has spent years photographing families across the Yarra Valley, the Dandenong Ranges, and throughout Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. His approach is quiet, unhurried, and focused entirely on what’s already happening in front of him.
He doesn’t manufacture moments. He finds them. And the families he works with tend to forget he’s there – which is exactly the point.

Family photography FAQs
What should I wear in portrait photography?
This is an individual choice and one that we can definitely support.
For men we suggest a constant colour in clothing choices, avoiding too many checks and stripes that are distracting.
For ladies its a little different, particularly when you consider accessories such as jewellery, and your preferences around hair and makeup.
What makes a great portrait?
A great portrait is one that you feel comfortable with, your family and friends can see it represents you well and showcases your personality. A portrait should always tell your story and more often than not capturing your eyes in great light captures the immediate attention of anyone viewing the photograph.
What portraits do you photograph?
We photograph a variety of portraits including families, individuals, headshots, children and can also support model portfolios. All our portraits are taken in natural light and on occasion we use artificial lighting. We find particularly with children that photographing outdoors is more comfortable and have a variety of locations we know to support the right look for you.
